Government to Hold First Online Covid19 Preparatory Meeting 

Government officials from different ministries and agencies are today, Tuesday set to hold a video conferencing meeting to discuss how to respond to the Covid19 pandemic in Uganda.

The meeting according to the government technology body NITA-U, will be attended by Government Ministries, Agencies and Departments.

“Large gatherings have been linked with aiding the spread of Covid19, as such, Government of Uganda will be holding meetings through video conferencing facilities,” the authority said in a statement.

“With support from the United Nations Development Fund (UNDP) and set up by the NITA-U, the Zoom video conferencing will enable Government of Uganda will hold its first meeting using online conferencing technology today, with GOU  staff expected to adapt the digital tools to allow the Government’s various Ministries and Agencies to resume their regular meeting schedule.”

The meeting will be chaired by Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda.

It will be used to discuss how Government can maintain service provision, safely, during the Covid Pandemic.

Also during the meeting, the various agencies will share updates on the various mitigations being undertaken to curb the spread of Covid19.
