Kibalama NUP Case: Judgement To Be Delivered Today
The long awaited judgement by High Court judge Musa Ssekaana in the matter regarding the leadership and ownership of National Unity Platform (NUP) is set to be delivered today
This matter was expected to be concluded last week, but was pushed to today under unclear circumstances.
And while the last time this matter came up in court it attracted heavy security deployment, this time it will not require anybody’s attendance in court since the judgement will be sent via Electronic mail (E-Mail).
This is not the first judgement to be delivered in this manner, as during the lock down and post lock down period judges delivered a number of judgements and rulings that way.
This is in line with Chief Justice Owiny-Dollo’s operational guidelines which required courts to proceed with operations but in observance of Covid19 preventive guidelines.
The case before court, was brought in August this year by Basile Difas and Hassan Twaha dragged 11 people to court for changing party leadership and name without authorization as stated in the Party constitution.
The party name was changed from National Unity, Reconciliation and Development Party (NURP) to National Unity Platform (NUP)and Hon Kyagulanyi Robert Sentamu was elected as a new party president which the members don’t agree with.
