Idi Amin Grandson, Taban Defeated in Kibanda North by RDC Ngompek

The Kibanda North Member of Parliament, Taban Amin, who is the grandson of former President Idi Amin Dada, has been defeated in the concluded National Resistance Movement primary elections.

The results released late Friday night by the Kiryandongo district NRM election officer, Shaban Byenkya declared Linos Ngompek as the winner with 10,710 which is 42.7% of the total 24,041 total votes. 

George Baitera Maiteki came second with 9, 126 votes (36%) while the incumbent Taban Amin polled distant last with 5,205 votes representing 20.7%. 

Taban is serving as MP for the first time after defeating Sam Otada in the 2016 general elections.

Ngompek, a youthful fan of Maj Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has been serving as Resident District Commissioner, Kiryandongo.
