UPL: Bayo Score Brace As Vipers Edge Express

Vipers SC sustained their unbeaten run in the Uganda Premier league after a dominant 3-0 win against Express at the St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Saturday evening.

Fahad Bayo scored twice before Brian Kalumba scored the other against helpless Express FC in the dominant display from the Venoms.

Bayo opened the scoring as early as the eighth minute, racing through on goal after Bobosi Byaruhanga’s long ball caught the Express back line flat footed. Bayo brilliantly held off his marker before slotting home past goalkeeper Tony Kyamera.

The Venoms were dominant in the opening 45 minutes, and could have doubled their advantage in the 25th minute, but Bayo’s shot was straight at Kyamera., as half time came to a close.

In the second stanza, Vipers were lucky to escape a penalty decision, as captain Disan Galiwango was brought down inside the area by Vipers captain Halid Lwaliwa. Referee Ali Sabira initially pointed to the spot, before over turning the decision for an offside.

In the 73rd minute, Bayo scored his second for the day, and sixth goal of the season. Brian Kalumba reacted well to win the ball from left back Andrew Kiwanuka, before setting up Bayo who beat Kyamera to almost but surely seal three points for his side.

Bayo and Kalumba exchanged roles in the 87th minute, this time Bayo turning provider for Kalumba who made no mistake from 20 yards out, curling past Kyamera.

This was Vipers’ fifth win of the season; they are now second on the log with 17 points, from seven games, two points behind leaders BUL Bidco who have played a game more.
