Michael Tusiime Concedes to Dr Rukaari

Member of Parliament Michael Tusiime has conceded defeat in the concluded National Resistance Movement party primary elections for Mbarara City North.

Tusiime, who lost to Dr. Mwesigwa Rukaari, released a statement on Sunday morning saying he will leave the stage with his head given his performance.
“As I bow out in the next 8 months, I move with my head high. Iam certain that I have left a foot mark of excellency and the performance bar has been adjusted upwards,” said Tusiime.
He wished his successor well and promised not to stand on independent ticket though he mentioned that there were irregularities in the primary elections.
“I wish my successor well. I concede with humility the glaring irregularities during the democratic assembly not withstanding. For the sake of harmony in my party, I shall not raise any petition, nor seek to run as an independent candidate,” he said.
Michael Tusiime is serving his first term after beating his predecessor Medard Bitekyerezo in 2016.
