Vipers Maintains Five Points Lead After KCCA Draw

Vipers SC remained five points clear on top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table after playing a goalless draw with KCCA FC on Tuesday at Kitende.
In a highly attended encounter played at the St Mary’s Stadium, both teams came with a similar ‘Safety First’ approach as less chances were created.
Vipers’ towering forward Tito Okello collided with KCCA’s Musa Ramathan in an aerial challenge hence being stretchered off for Allan Kayiwa.
The former Tooro United posted a stunning display when he dribbled past Moses Aliro to set Rahmat Ssenfuka but Peter Magambo made a timely clearance.
Vipers’ shot stopper Fabien Mutombora pulled out priceless saves to deny Erisa Ssekisambu and Gift Ali from close range Midway through the first half.
KCCA goalkeeper and skipper Charles Lukwago also denied two Geoffrey Wasswa distant free-kicks as the game became more physical.
Ssekisambu failed to fire KCCA into the lead when his shot in the box from Muzamir Mutyaba went a few inches from the goal post.
Also, KCCA’s second half substitute Saddam Juma curled an inch wide while Mike Mutyaba and Gift Ali shot direct at Fabien as both shared spoils.
Vipers remained on top with 50 points while KCCA are five below the Venoms. Vipers’ midfielder Siraje Sentamu went away with a man of the match accolade.
Vipers SC will play URA FC away on Friday as KCCA FC awaits to deal with an Express hurdle at Lugogo on the 22nd of February.
