Revamped 2020 Corporate League Excites on Day One 

The 19th edition of the Corporate League successfully started On Sunday at Kyambogo University playground.

The 2020 edition sees corporate companies compete in different sports disciplines which include football, volleyball, basketball, swimming, wood ball, athletics, netball, pool, fun games-tug of war and a 3 legged race.

However, only two official disciplines, three legged race and football were competitively participated in on the first day of the tournament while other sports like Tug of War were played for fun.

Centenary Bank won the three legged race with Stanbic Bank and Bank of Africa finishing in the 2nd and 3rd places respectively.

A total of 72 corporate companies confirmed participation in the 2020 league. Pitted into two groups of A and B, teams will look to compete in two categories (35+ Years and Open category).

After day one, Coca Cola Beverages topped group A with maximum points having registered four consecutive wins.

They saw off Movit products 3-0 before cruising to a 5-0 victory over SGA Security in the 35 years and above category.

In the Open category, Coca Cola saw off Platinum credit with a 3-0 triumph and later edged past Civil Aviation Authority with a 2-1 victory.

Roofings finished second with three wins against UETCL, Platinum Credit and KCCA before drawing to KCCA.

The 10 points however see Roofings tied with NSSF, which recorded wins against Electoral Commission, Petroleum Authority Uganda and Centenary Bank before a draw with DFCU Bank.

In group B, SCD Darling sit on top having registered three wins on the day against MTN, KFC and UNRA with 2-1 wins and a goalless draw against New Vision.

They have the same 10 points with second placed Spear Motors while Uganda Breweries which had maximum points from their three games sits third.

Besides bringing communities together through sports, the league aims at encouraging team building, networking and most importantly, keeping fit.

This edition will run on every last Sunday of the month up to 29th November, 2020 with the grand dinner and awarding ceremony slated for 4th December, 2020.

SGA, Petroleum Authority, UBOS, Bella Wines, Kirudu Hospital, NGO Bureau, Rene industries, Mobikey Trucks, NITA- Uganda, KFC, MOVIT, Finca Uganda among others are some of the new entrants in the corporate league.
