Aspirants Start Returning NRM Nomination Forms Today

National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission has made slight changes in its nomination exercise especially for candidates aspiring to stand on party ticket in Parliament and the seat of LC V Chairperson

According to Dr Tanga Odoi the NRM Electoral Commission boss in a statement released on Friday, the aspirants who have been affected by these changes are those from both Eastern and Western regions

“For the aspirants from Eastern who had the nomination dates fixed for 20th and 21st August, these dates were affected by the National delegates conference and therefore I advise you to start nominating in our offices starting tomorrow (Saturday).” Tanga said.

These have been asked not to physically bring their seconders and nominators with them.

Tanga also asked those returning forms to continue observing their Ministry of Health Directives on prevention of Covid19 as they come to Kyadondo

“While testing for COVID19 is optional, the Commission encourages all aspiring Candidates to carry out tests as part of the national effort to fight the spread of the virus.”

According to the revised program aspiring candidates for the parliamentary seats and LC.5 chairperson from Western region have been given 7th, 8th and 12th August

Northern region, Karamoja and west Nile have been given 12th, 13th August.

The Eastern region has been given 6th, 7th, 8th, 12th and 14th August.

The dates for central region and Kampala remains 14th to 15th August.

NRM’s delegates conference earlier on was to happen from 6th to 8th August but due to a number of changes and with advice from President Museveni the party chairperson, it was moved to 18th – 20th August 2020.
