Minister Aceng Launches Larviciding in Kabale
The minister of health Dr Jane Ruth Aceng has launched, larviciding a new system of fighting Malaria in Uganda.
Larviciding refers to the regular application of chemical or microbial insecticides to water bodies or water containers to kill the aquatic immature forms of the mosquito (the larvae and pupae)
In a function held at Butanda health center III in Kabale district, Aceng was accompanied by the area MP who is also the state minister for planning David Bahati; Kabale, Rubanda and Kisoro district leaders.
Dr Aceng said this new system of the fighting malaria was suggested by President Museveni Yoweri Museveni who encountered it during a trip to Egypt.
She said the program will soon be rolled out nationally.
On his part, Minister David Bahati said the fact that government is currently focusing on other diseases such as malaria shows that Covid19 has been brought under control.
The minister also said government plans to have a functional health center in every sub county, adding that in districts such as Kabale, this has already been achieved.
