Uganda: Covid-19 Cases Rise to 763
The Ministry of Health has on Saturday confirmed 8 new COVID-19 cases in Uganda bringing the total number of infections in the country to 763.
The cases were confirmed from 1,850 samples tested on Friday.
“Results from samples tested on 19th June 2020 confirm 8 new COVID-19 cases. Total confirmed cases are now 763,” Health Ministry announced.
Five of the new cases are truck drivers from points of entry, 3 of whom are from Elegu, 1 from Busia and 1 from Malaba.
The rest 3 are contacts and alerts to previously confirmed cases and all of them are from Kyotera district.
Meanwhile, 25 foreign truck drivers who tested positive for COVID-19 were handed back to their respective country of origin.
A total of 696 samples tested were from contacts and alerts to previously confirmed cases while 1,154 were from points of entry.
A total of 1,850 samples were tested for COVID-19 on Friday.
Currently, Uganda has a total of 763 COVID-19 confirmed cases, 492 recoveries and no fatalities.
