Uganda: Covid-19 Cases Rise To 317 As 36 New Infections Are Confirmed On Thursday

The Ministry of Health has confirmed 36 new COVID-19 cases in Uganda bringing the total number of cases in the country to 317.

“Today 28th May 2020, 36 new COVID-19 cases confirmed. The total confirmed cases are now 317,” the Health Ministry announced.

Of the new cases, 24 are truck drivers (20 arrived via Elegu, 2 via Malaba and 1 was from Lia point of entry in Arua).

The rest 12 new cases are contacts to previously confirmed truck drivers and were all under quarantine at the time of test.

Meanwhile, 26 positive foreign truck drivers were handed back to their respective country of origin as per the presidential directive to only allow COVID-19 negative foreign truck drivers enter into the country.

A total of 1,428 samples from the points of entry were tested for COVID-19 on Thursday while 802 were from the community and alerts.
