Three Tanzanian MPs Die In 2 Weeks
Neighboring Tanzania has lost yet another one of its senior political leaders, bringing to three the number of the deceased in less than a fortnight.
The country’s Constitutional and Legal Affairs Minister Augustine Mahiga passed away this morning in the country’s capital Dodoma.
Tanzanian President John Magufuli revealed in a statement that Mahiga suddenly fell ill at his home and was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Mahiga, who was appointed minister in 2015, has also been serving in the country’s parliament.
He was also a long-time diplomat of Tanzania and the country’s foreign minister from 2015 to last year.
His death comes just two days after the passing of Richard Ndassa, the MP for Sumve.
Ndassa’s death prompted the Tanzanian parliament speaker Job Ndugai to suspend the house.
About a week earlier, another Tanzanian MP Reverend Gertrude Rwakatare also passed away in Dar es Salaam.
The county also lost its former Chief Justice Augustino Ramadahani early this week.
