Battered Grandma to Get 2-Bedroom House

Lucy Anek 82, the grandmother who was filmed being battered by her grandson will soon get a two bed-roomed house courtesy of well-wishers

Anek, a resident of Ongako sub-county in Omoro district was recently film being tortured by her grand-son, Brian Okello who is currently on remand at Gulu central Prison.

A fundraising activity to build her a house is being led by Ms. Flavia Teddy Okello, the Executive Director of Flama Medical Center in Gulu town.

In an interview, Ms. Okello said that the construction of the two bed-roomed house will cost them about 12.7Million shillings.

“We have already broken the grounds for the construction of the two-bedroom house, that will have a water tank and solar power,” She said.

Okello added that they have already given to the Engineer who was contracted to do the work, a sum of 5.2 million shillings to do the work adding that people are still contributing more money.

Ms. Pamela Angwech, the Executive director Gulu Women Economic development and Globalization[GWED-G] whose organization contributed 3 million shillings towards the construction of the house said that they will also continue giving Psychosocial support to the woman and her family at large.

The house is being constructed in Patuda Parish, Ongako sub-county in Omoro district, where Anek resides with her grand-children.
