Murder Suspect Dies in Police Custody

A 30-year-old man in Rukungiri district, who was facing murder charges has died mysteriously under police custody.

Elly Maate the Kigezi regional police spokesman identifies the deceased as Adios Naturinda, a resident of Bunono cell in Nyarushanje Sub County, who had been detained by police on charges of murder.

Naturinda was accused of killing one Pauson Muhwezi on February 22, 2020

Maate says however, that on March 1, 2020, Naturinda started behaving in a strange manner and making  uncoordinated statements.

“This raised suspicions that he had developed a mental problem. On March 2, in the morning, he was rushed to Rwamahwa health centre IV for treatment and unfortunately he passed away in the evening,” said Maate.

The Police mouthpiece says the body was taken to Rwakabengo health centre III hospital mortuary for a post-mortem to establish likely cause of death.
