UFL: Mbahawe, Akampuliwe Strikes Condemn MUBS

Pepsi University Football League

YMCA 2-1 MUBS

Richard Mbahawe and Akampuliwe Bannet goals guided Pepsi University Football League debutants YMCA Comprehensive Institute to a 2-1 win over Makerere University Business School (MUBS) on Friday afternoon.

Munir Saidi strike for MUBS at Buwambo playground was not enough to salvage a point for the visitors as his equalizer in the game turned in to a mere consolation.

Mbahawe gave YMCA a deserved lead half an hour past the game off his powerful shot that left MUBS shot stopper with no chance whatsoever.

In the second half, the away side MUBS through Munir Saidi began searching for an equaliser.

Munir placed the ball out to Yusuf on the right wing who drilled a good ball across the box, but no one could get on the end of it.

MUBS gaffer Charles Ayekho Lukula “Mbuzi” made the first change when Nicholas Kigozi came on for Anduma Robert Midway through the second half.

Kigozi who looked lively since his introduction tried to hit the top corner through his right footed attempt by YMCA goalkeeper Esalu was equal to his pressing.

In the 68th minute, Munir Saidi through powerful left footed scorcher levelled matters for MUBS as the game neared a stalemate.

However, YMCA restored their lead with a late Bannet goal to get all the three points for the hosts after 80 minutes and MUBS defense deserved to blame for the poor defending.

The 2020 University Football League action will resume on Saturday 22nd February as Gulu University welcomes Nkumba University in a group E contest in Gulu.
