NWSC Moves to Stabilise Water Supply in Kisoro

NWSC Moves to Stabilise Water Supply in Kisoro

National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has procured a brand new 160KVA Diesel generator to replace the old one that was being used as a temporary stopgap measure to maintain uninterrupted pumping of water from the Kisoro Hill Booster Station.

Peter Ariho, the Kisoro NWSC  manager says with the full production of water  from Nkanka that commenced Tuesday, the Kisoro Hill Booser Station will be used solely to pump water day and night from Chuho Plant to the 600,000Litre Tank in Karambi and help them  to minimise the rationing which has been going on for a long time, often causing great inconvenience to the people of Bugahe, Gisorora, Nyakabingi, Iryaruhuri, Kabuga, Bubaga, Cyanika, Rubagabaga, Nyakabaya, Gasovu, Gasiza, Nyagisenyi, Nyarusiza, Gasiza, Soweto, Nturo, Karabosha, Bushenyi,  Kidandali, Muramba, Kasemisego and Ruceribuga.

Ariho also says the Kisoro Virungas Water Supply Extension on Tuesday morning delivered 8 light water pumps from the NWSC National Hub for Electro-Mechanical operations based in Gaba-Kampala, which will be installed with 2 pumps per booster station (1 duty, 1 standby) in Bukara Village-Muramba SubCounty, Buhangura Village in Nyarusiza SubCounty, Gasiza in Nyarusiza and Buzeyi Village also in Nyarusiza SubCounty.

“The system also has capacity for expansion by only upgrading the pumps for more 15 years after 2033. NWSC will use this opportunity using GOU funded project called SCAP-100 (Service Coverage Acceleration Program-100%) to extend the water further to other communities who do not have piped water but lie outside the project scope of KVWSE. These communities include: Kibugu, Lower Muramba SubCounty, Rutare Parish in Chahi SubCouty, MunguMwema hill”. Said Ariho .
