Futsal Association of Uganda Holds Maiden Annual General Assembly

The Futsal Association of Uganda (FAU) successfully held it’s inaugural Annual General Assembly (AGM) on Saturday at Kenedia Hotel, Kampala.

This was FAU’s first AGM since being admitted as the 34th member for the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) in last year’s 95th FUFA ordinary meeting that took place in Adjumani District, West Nile.

The meeting was attended by the FAU Chairperson Hamzah Jjunju, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ibrahim Mugera, Deputy FUFA CEO – football, Decolas Kiiza, executive committee members, delegates, and the media.

It was during this maiden assembly that the association passed the official admission of Eight Futsal clubs that registered for the 2020/2021 Super League season.

These include, Equator, Mengo City (Typhoons), Park, Parakeets, Yeak Kabowa, Aidenal Yap Stars, Bagimu (Intercity Busega) and Elephants.

During his speech, Futsal Chairperson Jjunju hinted on the main focus being Futsal development as a game, Futsal Competitions, Marketing & Promotion, Professionalization, Leadership as well as Social Impact.

He also called for improvisation and innovativeness during this Covid-19 period. He stressed that these are exciting times for the Futsal game in Uganda and they are looking forward to developing what started as a dream way back on 18th March 2015 at the MTN Arena, Lugogo in Kampala.

The assembly also officially admitted association’s Coaches, Referees, Youth, Universities, Secondary and Primary Schools.

It also passed the audited books of accounts that witnessed a financial growth of Shs 70M to Shs 138M with a brand value of Shs 149M.

The 2020/2021 season financial budget of Shs. 136,000,000 was also passed.

The FAU activity calendar including all competitions ranging from Super League, Uganda Cup, Youth Academy galas, primary school galas, Corporate, Universities and futsal clubs administrators training was also passed.
