DP ruto launched the station on Sunday
Competition to rule the Kenyan airwaves has gone a notch higher with Deputy President William Ruto launching a new radio station on Sunday, October 6.
The newly launched station dubbed Great Gospel Visioners (GGV FM 97.1) seeks to cut a niche for itself in disseminating credible information and acting as a public atch-dog, giving a voice to the public.
Ruto who was speaking at the launch of the station in Meru reiterated the government’s commitment to creating a competitive environment for investors and allowing freedom of speech to thrive.
"The Government will continue offering a conducive environment for free speech and relay of fact-based information to thrive," stated DP Ruto.
"Crucially, the station entitles the people to tell their own stories, and share best experiences in the information-rich world," he added.
DP Ruto steals the show in church with hilarious performance
He was speaking shortly after he attended a church service at Great Gospel Visioners Church in Meru County where he caused a stir after he took to the pulpit to lead the congregation in a praise and worship session.
DP Ruto whose love for God and attending church services is known was stole the show momentarily after leaving his seat to lead the churching in belting out gospel tunes during the service.
A video shared by Dennis Itumbi shows the DP alongside a choir leader leading a highly-charged congregation in a gospel song.
In the video, a visibly uneasy DP Ruto is seen clapping his hands and raising them in a bid to keep up with the choir leaders.
Nonetheless, his performance appeared to have energized the congregation that sang with gusto amidst cheers.
