Busiro Ssaza Demands 5m Compensation as Striker Mayanja Signs for Express

Busiro Ssaza manager Paul Nsubuga has ordered striker Ivan Mayanja to pay a Five million compensation fee to the team management following his potential move to Uganda Premier League outfit Express FC.

A furious Nsubuga who is Busiro North member of parliament aspirant ahead of next year’s general elections expressed his dissatisfaction after Express FC secured the signature of his contracted player minus engaging the Ssaza management.

In an exclusive interview with ChimpReports, Nsubuga disclosed that the player had received Five millions after agreeing to renew his stay at Busiro for one more season prior to the 2020 Masaza Cup tournament.

To his surprise, the player went on to sign for the UPL outfit without engaging the Ssaza management amid having a memorandum of understanding.

“We paid Ivan Mayanja a total of Five millions during these difficult COVID 19 times and signed a pre-contract with us in the presence of our lawyers,” Nsubuga said.

He added, “signing for another team minus consulting us a signal of disrespect to us from the player and the club. So we want Mayanja to return our 5M sign on fee or Express should refund.”

Nsubuga now threatens to petition the transfer to the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) if the funds are not availed.

“But if they fail to comply with us then we are going to petition the move to FUFA. We invest a lot in grooming these players but the Masaza Cup is considered an amateur competition and players contracts are always underlooked,” he said.

Article 17 of the FUFA regulations on the transfer of players provides for considerable compensation to the club losing its player, however, the Masaza tournament was left out in the regulation.

On this, he stressed, “We understand Masaza Football is amateur football and so players may not have contracts that FUFA can recognize but there should be a clause from the authorities that can protect the Masaza teams.”

Mayanja is set to be unveiled at the UPL side as they continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the forthcoming 2020/2021 season.

In a past related incident, FUFA ordered left back Disan Galiwango to pay a 25M compensation to Express over his move to UPL Champions Vipers Sports Club.

He had pocketed 15M as sign on fee and ordered to compensate his former club Express with 10M.
