FUFA Reveals Tentative Date for 2020/2021 Big League Kickoff
The Federation of Uganda Football Associations has declared the 29th October, 2020 as a tentative date for the possible return of next season’s FUFA Big League.
This was revealed during FUFA’s consultative meeting with Big League clubs on Friday at the FUFA House in Mengo.
The different teams that were represented included James Obua (Water FC), Hassan Kirunda (Kataka FC), Francis Awiti (Doves All Stars), Agnes Mugena (Bukedea FC), Samuel Opio (Bukedea FC), Nasifu Dembe (Nyamityobora), Emmanuel Etiang (Kiboga Young), Paul Mark Kayongo (Ndejje University FC), Andrew Odong (Kigezi Home Boyz FC), Rasul Oryem (Paidha Black Angels FC), Ashraf Miiro (UPDF FC) and Gilbert Nyaika (Kitara FC).
If everything goes on as planned, the 2020/2021 FUFA Big League season will get underway in two weeks after the StarTimes Uganda Premier League kick-off.
Before the previous season was abruptly ended, Malabba Youth Development Association (MYDA) and UPDF FC topped the Elgon and Rwenzori groups respectively, positions that were carried on a final leage standings. However, Ndejje’s petition still puts UPDF’s place in doubt.
At the end of the Big League season, the top three teams (leaders from either group and the third after the promotional playoffs) qualify to the top tier, Uganda Premier League.
Also, Six teams, three from each group are relegated to the Regional League.
Last season, Kansai Plascon, New Villa, Dove Football Club, Saviours, Light SS and Katwe United Football Club were relegated in the third division.
