Gulu University 1-3 Muni University

Muni University came from a goal down to stun Kumi University 1-3 in the Pepsi University Football League Match-day three game played on Wednesday afternoon in Gulu.

Kakooza Ivan had fired Gulu University in the lead but Pariyo Nelson, Abiyo Albert and Mangusho Caleb strikes turned his goal into a mere consolation.

The hosts drew first blood in the game off Ivan Kakooza’s stunning effort from the edge of the box past goalkeeper Ahmed Kibampawo seven minutes into the game, before Pariyo Nelson cancelled out his goal six minutes later.

In the 41st minute, Abiyo Albert put Muni University in the lead thanks to his powerful strike that beat goalkeeper Opolot Simon Richard.

Gulu tried to restore parity off Kakooza who twisted and turned to pull his short towards goal but the Muni custodian palmed it back into the play for Rwothomio to miss the rebound.

Ten minutes after the restart, Gulu goalkeeper Opolot was called into action on two occasions saving shots from Pariyo and Ocheing Ambrose.

In the 76th minute, Mangusho Caleb consolidated the lead for Muni with the third goal which necessitated something special from Gulu to turn around.

After three group E games, Muni University registers its first win of the season getting to the 3rd position with three points while Gulu sunk to the bottom on one point.

Bugema University sits top with six points, three better off second placed Nkumba University. Both have played two games.
