UCU Lady Cardinals 2-2 Kawempe Muslim 

Super substitute Hasifa Nassuna heroics resurrected Uganda Christian University Lady Cardinals from the dead during their 2-2 draw with pacesetters Kawempe Muslim in the Wednesday fixture.

Nassuna on her return from injury came on as a second half substitute for Teddy Najjuma to score a goal and assist the other in the epic FUFA Women Super League clash forcing a draw for the hosts.

Kawempe Muslim had bossed with a halftime 1-0 lead courtesy of a Shamira Nalugya free kick before Juliet Nalukenge could cross the line at UCU grounds in Mukono to double the visitors’ lead moments after the restart.

In the 18th minute, Nalugya put Kawempe in a deserved lead with a well curled free kick on the near post beating hapless custodian Ruth Aturo.

Few minutes later, Joan Kwagala failed to convert a penalty kick thanks to Juliet Adeke’s brilliance in goal that kept the record winners in the driving seat.

On the 60th minute, Kawempe Muslim was awarded a penalty following Mercy Nabulobi’s foul on Nalukenge in the area, who stepped up to send Aturo the wrong side.

Nassuna who came on as a second half substitute pulled one back for the Lady Cardinals from the spot kick after Asia Nakubuuka’s foul for the third penalty on the evening.

UCU fought tooth and nail to escape defeat as they paused several questions to the visitors, and their attempts paid off when another substitute, Harriet Muwugumya headed home for the equaliser in the added time with super-sub Nassuna grabbing an assist.

After the game of three spot kicks, Kawempe Muslim maintained their stay at the top of the summit with 17 points, nine better off UCU in 5th position.
