The Tax Collectors Have Never Lost A Game At St. Mary’s On Their Last Two Visits

Vipers Sports Club Vs Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club

Startimes Uganda Premier League resumes today after the weekend engagement with Maroons Fc against Vipers was called off due to a Cranes regional tour in the North East and Katakwi in particular which involved a quartet of Vipers players.

Uganda Revenue Authority recruited massively before thr start of this season, however, their performances on the pitch have left alot to be desired putting pressure on the technical team led by Sam Ssimbwa Bamweyana to reciprocate the investment with perfect results.

URA Fc lie in a 10th position on the league log having 14 points out of the 10 matches played with eight goals scored and only two conceded which is a clear indication of a shortfall in comparison to their known standards.

However, despite sitting in a poor position, tURA fc is unbeaten in the last five matches and always rise up to the occasion whenever faced with Vipers thus that belief will definitely push them to go up a fight therefore it is a tough task for the Venoms.

As it stands, Vipers sit comfortably on top of the table, 16 points ahead of the tax collectors though they have two games in hand however, of all the teams in top flight division it is only URA which holds a better head to head over the Venoms implying form might not count much in this contest.

Shaban Muhammad and Livingstone Mulondo remain long time absentees ruling them out of this game after successfully undergoing operations and it is the second round earmarked for their returns.

Youngsters Abdul Karin Watambala, Dennis Kiggundu and Bibosi Byaruhanga will not be part if this fixture as they started their Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) at St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School.

The rest of the squad is available for selection save for Frank Tumwesigye ‘Zaga’ who lacks match fitness after returning to training from a fever last week hence this tie is too early for him.

Out of the 14 meetings between the two teams St. Mary’s stadium, the Venoms have registered three wins only, three draws and eight losses scoring 14 goals as well as conceding 20 in the process.

Shafik Kagimu reserves his best for Vipers as he has scored in both of URA’s two previous wins at St. Mary’s stadium and the tax collectors have never lost at Kitende on their two visits.

Vipers first ever victor over URA occurred on 28th April 2011 in a 1-0 win, the corresponding encounter at St. Mary’s Stadium Kitende ended 2-1 in URA’s favour after Shafik Kagimu and Victor Kilama gave the tax collectors a two goal lead before Hamis Kiiza pulled one back for Vipers.
