FIFA U17: Magogo Pledges $200 Bonus if Uganda Eliminates Tanzania

FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers | Return Leg

Saturday 14th March 2020

Uganda Vs Tanzania – Lugogo (1-2)

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) president, Moses Hashim Magogo has promised a $200 bonus to every player if Uganda eliminates Tanzania in the return leg.

Uganda and Tanzania will face off in the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers second round return leg at the StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo on Saturday evening.

Magogo, during a courtesy visit to the team’s camp on Monday at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru, urged the young girls to have self-belief and be mentally stronger.

He unleashed a big promise to the team of Two Hundred Dollars ($200), only if they eliminate Tanzania in the loaming East African derby and advance to the final qualification round.

“I have watched you play and I must say I am very much impressed. You are one of the best teams in this category on the continent and that is why we have registered you in as many competitions because we believe in your abilities,” said Magogo

He added, “We really have a lot of hope in this team and losing out will be an opportunity lost. What you could be missing is just mental toughness and you will need just that on Saturday. They (Tanzania) may be a good side but I believe you are better. I want to promise you that I will give each player Two hundred dollars ($200) if you advance to the final qualification round.”

After his remarks, the team made a request to the FUFA President to buy them some ice cream and chocolates, to which he obliged by offering them Shs. 1M (One Million).

The Uganda U17 coaching staff was also handed a token of Five Hundred Thousand shillings (UGX 500,000) for their own version of ice cream.

Uganda will head into the return leg trailing to a one goal deficit as the first leg ended 1-2 in favor of the Black Wizards at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

The aggregate victors will then face off with either Cameroon or Sao Tome in the next round.
