Vipers’ Ram Nyakana Optimistic About Players’ Fitness Levels
Despite the fact that the COVID19 gloomy cloud looms above leading to the immediate suspension of sporting activities, the ‘One Team, One Dream’ mantra is still well alive amongst those of Vipers SC.
With the lockdown extended further for 21 days, many football coaches are worried about the drop in their players’ fitness levels.
However, it’s not the same case with Vipers Sports Club fitness Coach Ram Nyakana Mpuga who remains optimistic in these hard times.
Amid the suspension, Ram Nyakana maintains that players are undertaking individual drills at their respective homes irrespective of being away from the pitch.
The conditioning coach is closely monitoring how they are responding to the programmes which he handed over to them as they signed off for the break.
“Of course it’s a difficult period for many without the regular vigorous sessions as we all know how those players need to be pushed under guidance but I’m optimistic they are responding to the programmes,” Nyakana stated via the club official website.
“The boys are focused and know what is at stake,” revealed Nyakana. “Although some fitness and sharpness will be lost during this recess but our target is for them to be at 85 per cent on return,” he added.
He however, expects a lapse in sharpness but hopes for a quick recovery as Venoms find their groove for the final push of season.
With five games left on the calendar, Vipers tops the UPL log on 54 points, four better than second placed KCCA Football Club.
