CAF Awards: Salah, Mane And Mahrez To Compete For African Player Of The Year Award

CAF Awards: Salah, Mane And Mahrez To Compete For African Player Of The Year Award

Liverppol forwards Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah along with Manchester City attacker Riyad Mahrez have made the final three-man shortlist for the 2019 CAF African Player of the Year award.

Mahrez won it while still at Leicester City in 2016 but Mane looks to be Salah’s closest competitor to win this year’s accolade after superb performances both at club and national team.

Meanwhile, Salah is looking for the third consecutive award after winning it in 2017 and 2018.

Cameroon’s Ajara Nchout, Nigeria and Barcelona forward Asisat Oshoala, and last year’s winner Thembi Kgatlana of South Africa are shortlisted for the African Women’s Player of the Year award.

The winner will be decided by head coaches and captains of the senior national teams from the organisation’s member associations at the CAF Awards in Egypt on January 7.
