NRM Registrars Fired Over Embezzlement

Four National Resistance Movement (NRM) sub county registrars in Kanungu district have been sacked over allegations of embezzling village youth allowances, delaying election materials to the polling stations, delaying results to the tally centre among other accusations.

Alex Turyahikayo, the Kanungu NRM registrar says the four were on Friday sacked following a meeting of district party officials.

Those who were fired are Robert Magara of Butogota town council, Mildred Tushabomise of Rugyeyo Sub County, Constance Tukahirwa of Kambuga Sub- County and Moreen Arineitwe of Kihihi town council.

Turyahikayo told our reporter that the fired registrars committed the offences during the recently concluded NRM primary elections that were held on Friday September 5th 2020 for the Parliamentary Flag Bearers and women representatives.

According to Turyahikayo, Robert Magara is said to have embezzled Shs 1.5 million that were meant to be given to youth committees at village level in Butogota town council.

“The NRM constitutions gives me authority to sack any party official who acts contrary to the party constitution and I have immediately replaced them to allow the process of voting for Local Councils Flag bearers to continue successfully” Turyahikayo said.

On his part, Mr Magara admitted to the offense saying that the party didn’t pay his remuneration for the services he offered.

He said he would not have appeal the decision
