Bebe Cool Condemns Besigye Brutal Arrest, Mocks Bobi Wine
Singer Moses Ssali commonly known as Bebe Cool has condemned the treatment meted on former Forum for Democratic Change, Dr. Kizza Besigye on Monday.
Pictures and videos circulated yesterday on social media showed police using heavy water cannon pressure that forced Dr. Besigye helplessly off his Land Cruiser before being arrested and taken to Nagalama police station.
Bebe Cool in a social media statement said police actions were inappropriate and should not be condoned.
“Whatever transpired here is so wrong,” said Bebe Cool.
He customarily emphasized his support for President Museveni, whom he said cannot condone the allegedly ugly Monday scene.
“I am a supporter of President Museveni and am sure he is a human being and cannot allow such an act,” said Bebe Cool.
He however cautiously noted that politics is a dirty game and opposition politicians can take it to any length to attract attention and soil government image.
“I know politics has its games and I will not rule out the fact that some police members are pro opposition and they could have conspired with the blue team to carry out such an act in the quest for public attention, sympathy and damage the image of both the Uganda police and government,” he noted.
Bebe Cool wants police men involved in the arrest of Dr. Besigye to be subjected to punitive measures including arrest, demotion and dismissal.
“This kind of act is unacceptable and should not be allowed in our country hence these policemen should be arrested, demoted and dismissed out of the force,” he said.
Bebe appealed to police to be human and professional in the carrying out their constitutional duties.
“Yes arrest but you can do it in a more human and professional way,” he said.
Meanwhile Bebe used the same opportunity to hit at his nemesis Bobi Wine, whom he described as weak adolescent.
“No wonder the screenshot making rounds on social media is about ‘owa #kasukali’ being told that he’s weak; as in, had this been done to him, he would be in a wheelchair the next morning, crying like the adolescent he is,” said Bebe.
