Uganda’s Covid19 Cases Now at 848

Ministry of Health has confirmed 15 new COVID-19 cases in Uganda bringing the total number of infections in the country to 848.

The Ministry of Health announced that the new cases were confirmed from 2,868 samples tested for COVID-19 on Friday.

Of the 15 new cases, the ministry says, 12 are among contacts and alerts to previously confirmed cases while 3 are from points of entry.

The 3 cases from points of entry are truck drivers from Mirama Hills, Malaba and Elegu border points.

12 of the new cases of contacts and alerts to previously confirmed cases include 10 from Tororo who were under quarantine at the time of test, 1 from Luweero and 1 from Amuru districts.

A total of 1,672 samples were tested from points of entry while 1,196 were among contacts and alerts to previously confirmed cases.

A total of 2,868 cases were tested for COVID-19 on Friday.

Meanwhile, 13 foreign truck drivers who tested positive for COVID-19 were handed back to their respective countries of origin as per the presidential directive that only COVID-19 negative truck drivers should be allowed entry into Uganda.

Currently, Uganda has a total of 848 COVID-19 confirmed cases, 780 recoveries and no fatalities.
