Uganda Braces for 3-Day Load Shedding as Victoria Rages

For three consecutive days starting today, Uganda is set to undergo an emergency load shedding  to allow critical water tests on four electricity dams, UMEME has announced.

“We have been informed by the Uganda Electricity Transmission Company limited (UETCL) that there will be emergency load shedding,” the power distributors announced.

According to UMEME, blackouts shall occur from 9 am to 5 pm accross  the country, affecting a number of customers

This Saturday morning however, the national black out seemed to have kicked off before day break.

“We have lost transmission across the Nation which has caused a nation wide blackout, please bare with us as we investigate the cause and work on restoration. All inconveniences are highly regrettable,” said power transmission company UETCL.

This comes  nearly three weeks after the country was thrust into sudden darkness during President Yoweri Museveni’s address. It was later discovered that this was caused by a floating island which obstructed water flow.

Lake Victoria this week recorded it’s highest water levels since 1964.
