Namboole Stadium to Undergo Renovation

Ministry of Education has unveiled plans to renovate Mandela National Stadium (Namboole) to bring it to an internationally recognized standard.

Hon Hanson Obua the state Minster for sports while delivering a statement from his senior, Minister Janet Museveni, revealed that the renovation exercise is going to be conducted in a phased manner

“The government of Uganda attaches great importance to this international asset and recognizes Mandela National stadium’s role in development of sports in the country. Indeed, the stadium is the ‘Home’ to National Teams and Athletes,” he said,

In March this year CAF inspected Namboole ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in which Uganda will host Mali, Kenya and Rwanda but recommendations were made for the stadium to first undergo renovation.

Among the areas that were recommended for repair include sitting areas for fans, media areas, dressing rooms, flood lights as well as media sections.
