UPL: Vipers Welcome Wounded Wakiso Giants At St. Mary’s

After sacking their head coach Kefa Kisala, Wakiso Giants will visit Vipers SC at St. Mary’s Stadium Kitende on Tuesday evening looking for revival.

The home side will also be looking to continue with their fine form as well as continuing with their unbeaten run in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

Vipers enter this game after a hard fought win against Busoga United at the Mighty Arena in Jinja on Saturday evening.

The result moved Vipers to 27 points from 11 games with four games to spare to the end of the first round of the UPL.

The two sides are separated by 14 points and a win over Wakiso Giants FC will further frustrate their maiden stay in the top flight which had initially looked promising.

The Purple Sharks are currently struggling for form, they were humiliated with a 3-0 defeat to the Red Eagles at the Wakisha play grounds last Saturday.

This was their third loss in a row and showed that coach Kisala had lost control of matters and subsequently got fired before replacing him with former player Steven Bengo.

Vipers head coach Edward Golola cautioned his players to be mindful of their opponents and asked them to forget about the past game.

“Everyone has talked about how we have been the better side going by the recent results but our opponents are hungrier for victory now than before,” Golola said before adding.

“They have good players and we know they will come seeking for redemption but we shall not take them lightly either, we shall take the game to them.”

Innocent Wafula resumed training after overcoming a knock but is doubtful for this encounter, Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye is still out recovering from a bout but will soon be back in training.
