Police in Bukedea District are holding a UPDF soldier, Alex Edimu for attempted murder and impersonation, Chimp Corps report.
Edimu was arrested Friday afternoon at a drinking joint with several others while drinking ‘ajon’ at Bukedea town.
Speaking to ChimpReports, SP Ezra Tugume, DPC Bukedea District said Edimu was arrested and charged for attempted murder and impersonation.
“The officers met Edimu on Uniform while in operations enforcing the presidential directive on curfew.
Edimu joined the officers who were on patrol, pretending to be an officer sent direct from state house to re-enforce the security in the district regarding the presidential directives on Covid-19 preventive measures,” Tugume said.
ChimpReports understands that Edimu, well known as Ben Ekabot was camafloudging as a lieutenant, having four stars.
Edimu reportedly joined the operation and worked with the officers on duty Thursday night but disappeared after a while and never returned for the operation.
The officers launched an inteligence search for Edimu and arrested him while drinking ‘ajon’ from a joint with several others.
“We charged Edimu for attempted murder as he was found drinking alcohol with other people and impersonation since he was in possession of a UPDF uniform which doesn’t belong to him, ” Tugume added.
Edimu has been lying to People that he is alieutenant but ChimpReports obtained information that Edimu is a private working at artillery.
Edimu had gathered over 6 people to help work on his building project on his newly acquired plot of land in Kabarwa, Malera.
One of the sources who prefered anonimity told ChimpReports that Edimu promised to buy her bricks for his construction.
“He took ‘ajon’ with his friends, ammounting to a total of Shs24, 000 and even promised to buy four trips of my bricks at Shs700, 000.”
One of the sources close to him told ChimpReports that Edimu sent one of his friends to withdraw money from Postbank, Bukedea branch and later told his friends the bank bounced his request.
ChimpReports learnt that Edimu just sent one of his friends with just a cheat, requesting for his bank statement and not withdrawing the Shs21, 000, 000m which he claimed the bank rejected saying it had insufficient funds to give him all that amount.
One of his relatives revealed that Edimu had just finished serving his punishment at Makindye barracks where he was detained for misconduct.
Tugume said Edimu is still being detained at Bukedea CPS and will soon be arranged to court over his charges before UPDF will as well take action on him for impersonation.
