Covid-19: Rwandan National Held for Illegal Entry
Ntungamo police are holding a Rwandan national for illegal entry into the country amidst the closure of all border points to curtail the spread of coronavirus.
The suspect identified as Mushwizimana Diogene reportedly crossed into the Ugandan territory through Omukayaga near the Kizinga border point in Ngoma Sub County Rushenyi county Ntungamo District.
The 17-year-old was arrested in Rubare town council by parish chairperson on Saturday last week.
He has been staying with his relative in Rwentobo –Rwahi town council while searching for jobs.
He was later checked by COVID-19 Task Force in charge of Rushenyi County and he had no signs of coronavirus. He’s currently being held at Rubaare police station.
Speaking to our reporter, RDC Ntungamo George Bakunda confirmed the arrest and affirmed to increase security patrols and vigilance at the border.
Bakunda noted that the security agencies are scrutinizing the circumstances to see if the illegal entrant could be deported.
