CAF Champions League, Confederation Cup Semis Postponed
In the year 2020, the novel coronavirus continues to take a toll all around the globe. Sports has been severely hit with the latest effects being the cancellation of these two events.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF), the continental football governing body has confirmed the postponement of it’s continental Championships, CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup.
The semi-finals for the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup which were previously scheduled for 1-3 May (first leg) and 8-10 May (return leg), have been rescheduled to new dates yet to be confirmed.
The development was confirmed on Sunday by CAF in a brief statement.
“In light of growing concerns and evolving nature on COVID-19 amidst lockdown in most countries, the CAF Emergency Committee has decided to postpone the following matches until further notice,” read the CAF Statement.
Alhy will take on Wydad Casablanca as Zamalek locks horn with Raja Casablanca in the CAF Champions League semi-final duels.
In the CAF Confederation Cup, Robert Odongkara’s Horoya AC will face Abdul Lumala’s Pyramids as Hassania Agadir and RS Berkane tangle in the other semi-final affair.
Japoma stadium in Douala, Cameroon will host the Champions league final while Prince Moulay Abdellah stadium in Rabat, Morocco will host the final for the Confederation Cup.
