Uganda has been eliminated from the FIFA U20 Women World Cup Qualifiers after a 2-1 home defeat to Tanzania in the second leg game played on Saturday evening.
Uganda lost the first leg encounter in a reminiscent fashion and a 1-0 home win today at the StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo would guarantee the Oliver Mbekeka coached side further progress but that is history.
The hosts broke the deadlock when Kampala Queens’ midfielder Phiona Nabbumba tapped in a reflex from zero distance thanks to a Juliet Nalukenge assist with 48th minutes past the game.
Tanzania’s redemption was not long in coming when as Diana Msewa levelled matters in the 59th minute off Aisha Khamis Masaka assist.
Minutes later, Clement Opa put the visitors ahead off a well taken freekick from 25 yards which came as a result of fouling Khamis by Shadia Nankya.
Uganda was lucky not to have conceded three when Opa rattled the crossbar before goalkeeper Daphine Nyayenga collected the rebound.
Tanzania after advancing will now play the winner between Senegal and Sierra Leone in the next qualification round.
