Steven Bengo Testimonial Highly Attended

 

Former SC Villa and Uganda Cranes staer Steven Bengo bid farewell to his glorious footballing career in a testimonial match played at Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium in Wakiso.

The event was graced by ex- and current football stars with two matches played in Bengo’s honour.

The main game saw Wakiso Giants edge Ex-Jogoo Young team 1-0 with Bengo featuring for the former  side where he started his career before playing for SC Villa, Express, KCCA, URA, Young Africans, Soana and Wakiso Giants where he ended his career.

Muwadda Kateregga won the game with a first half penalty against his Wakiso Giants captain Yasin Mugabi who featured for Jogoo Young as well.

Besides Bengo and Mugabi, other Wakiso Giants players that played for Jogoo Young included Hakim Ssenkumba and Fahad Kawooya.

The team also had Chicago Fire and Cranes midfielder Mike Azira, Croatia based left back Isaac Muleme, Jeremiah Ssebuyira, Isaac Kirabira, Fred Nkata, Ibrahim Kibumba and Yusuf Jjuuko.

“This is a sad but brilliant moment that am leaving the beautiful game as a player,” Bengo said after the game.

“I am happy with whoever has a played a part in my career and want in a special way thank Wakiso Giants for making this happen,” he added.

The Jogoo Young team was coached by Ibrahim Kirya and Paul Nkata.

The other game featured All Stars Kampala Association (ASKA) team against Friends of Bengo.

Hakim Magumba, Iddi Batambuze, Abubaker Tabula, Dan Wagaluka, Osama Farouk, John Billy Lukooda, Mathias Kisitu, Musa Atagenda and Ahmed Ddamulira were among the persons that took part in the game.

Fufa president Moses Magogo pledged Ugx. 400,000 to the Steven Bengo Initiative and all proceeds from the gate collections will go to the initiative.
