How Security Guard Stole 18 Million, Set Up Bar in Kisoro

Police in Kisoro have in custody a security guard who allegedly broke into one of the apartments he was guarding in Kulambiro, Kampala in November, and stole USD 5,000 (Shs 18m).

“The guard identified as Desire Babu allegedly who went into hiding after robbing the apartment he was supposed to be guarding in Kulambiro was arrested today in Kisoro after investigations led us to his village where he had taken refuge,” said police in a statement

Police said that according to information from the village, Babu had opened up a bar, bought a motorcycle , acquired cattle (one head ) and bar equipment.

All items were recovered by police including the mobile phone and Laptop he had stolen from Kampala.

The suspect is currently detained at Tuba Police on charges of theft.

“He will be arraigned in courts of law any time. We want to commend the team of officers who participated in the arrest of Babu and recovery of these items,” said police
