Court Postpones Ruling Date of NUP Case

High Court judge Musa Ssekaana will not deliver his judgement in the case concerning the ownership of National Unity Platform (NUP) Party as was scheduled today.

While scores of people woke up early to secure the limited seats at the High Court, it has emerged that the session has been postponed.

Jameson Karemani the Judiciary spokesperson, while communicating this development, did not give reasons for the postponement but said the new date will be availed very soon.

“Be informed that the NUP judgment will not be there today but on some other day next week to be communicated to you.” Karemani revealed.

Many of the nominated NUP candidates and those awaiting to be nominated today were very eager to know about this judgement, since if the court nullifies the party, it would badly affect their candidature.

The court case is meant to determine who are the rightful owners of NUP.

In August this year, Basile Difas and Hassan Twaha dragged 11 people to court for changing party leadership and name without authorization as stated in the Party constitution.

The name was changed and Hon Kyagulanyi Robert Sentamu was elected as a new party president which some members don’t agree with.
