Kutesa’s daughter calls for calm in Mawogola North as primaries are suspended

Shartsi Kutesa Musherure, the daughter of foreign affairs minister Sam Kutesa and Sodo Aine Kaguta, Museveni’s brother have accused each other of perpetrating violence and intimidation in Mawogola North NRM primaries.

The NRM electoral commission boss, Dr Tanga Odoi confirmed on Friday that the party had suspended the election in Mawogola North and Mawogola West which are found in Sembabule district.

A section of the NRM voters from two constituencies are crying foul over the postponement of the election .

As a result, they claim that this action is a vote of no confidence in an exercise that the candidates and their supporters have heavily invested time and resources in.

The tensions forced the Deputy Inspector General of Police Maj. Gen. Sabiiti Muzeeyi to rush and camp in the area.

However, in a statement issued on Saturday, Musherure urged her supporters to keep calm and maintain discipline saying that the decision to postpone this election is to enable the people vote in peace and without intimidation.

Odoi, said that the new elections dates for Mawogola North and Mawogola West constituencies will be announced at a later date when he is convinced that the ground is safe for the exercise.
