‘I Have Never Demanded Bobi Wine Any Money ‘..Kibalama Asserts As Court Continues To Find Truth In NUP Ownership
In a rather shocking turns of events, former president and founder of the National Unity Platform Moses Kibalama Nkonge yesterday afternoon confirmed to court that that he had been under military detention for two weeks in Mbale, on orders of UPDF chief Gen. David Muhoozi.
Mr. Kibalama who cried several times during cross examination asked court to help him regain his freedom— claiming that he was summoned by Gen. Muhoozi, the Chief of Defence Forces who quizzed him about changes in party leadership before ordering for his military detention.
Mr. Kibalama also disowned the video in which he appeared claiming that he was promised USD5 million by Mr. Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine to change party leadership.
Kibalama; a former Superintendent of Police during presidents’ Obote and Amin’s regimes said he voluntarily accepted to change the party’s name he was heading since 2004 to NUP.
Explaining his change of mind to court, Kibalama said he was compelled to make a U-turn on the change of his party name because him and some of the founder members of NURP were not given any slots in NUP which he says has now gained political fame.
