Kween: NRM Candidate Arrested for Flouting SOPs

Police in Kween District have in custody a political aspirant for Member of Parliament under the NRM ticket for flouting presidential directives and Ministry of Health guidelines as per the prevention of the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic.

“Mr. Wilfred Chemutai was arrested at Binyiny Town Council while conducting an unlawful procession,” Police said.

“He is currently detained at Kapchorwa Police Station as inquiries are ongoing,” said the Sipi Region Police Spokesperson, Chesang Fredmark.

This comes a day after the Koboko Municipality MP aspirant Hon Evelyn Anite bowed to pressure and apologized for her Koboko ‘rally’ incident where many people took a procession without observing any of the Ministry of Health and government guidelines as regards Covid-19 prevention.

The police said that Chemutai will be arraigned before court once the investigations into the matter are done with.

“He will appear in court when inquiries are complete,” he added.

Chesang advised all other aspirants to follow the presidential directives and the set Ministry of Health Standard Operating Procedures.
