KCCA on Monday started the registering all Passenger Service Vehicles (PSV) and issuing them route charts for more organized operations.

The authority spokesperson Peter Kauju said yesterday that they had registered very large number drivers from their two registration points of Kitante Primary and Old Kampala SS Grounds.

“As of today, 5th June 2020, over 3,444 taxis plying different routes in the country have been registered.”  Said Kauju

He added that the ongoing registration exercise will continue up to the 30th of June 2020.

For the Boda Bodas, Kauju said Government is in the process of finalizing of a Bodaboda free zone as well as gazetting stages in the city.

‘Bodabodas play a critical role in transporting a number of people in the city but they need to be regulated to enhance the safety of the public.”

In the meantime, he advised the Bodaboda riders to continue transporting luggage and maintain the curfew time as per the Presidential Directive as they wait for further guidance on their return.

On Tuesday this week, President Museveni ordered that public means of transport should resume operations carrying half of their passenger capacity on top of observing Ministry of Health Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
