Cargo Driver with Covid-19 Nabbed in Kisoro, Admitted at Kabale Hospital
A Ugandan Cargo truck driver that tested positive of Covid-19 was on Monday has been intercepted at Bunagana in Kisoro District and swiftly whisked away to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital.
He is among the 30 confirmed cases that were announced on Monday.
Speaking to our reporter, Dr Stephen Nsabiyunva the Kisoro District Health Officer said the patient was driving a Ugandan truck registration UBF 112K belonging to Spedag Interfreight Company. He was isolated in his truck and later evacuated to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital.
He says that the patient went into the Democratic Republic of Congo through Mpondwe Border post in Kasese district one month ago and might have got infected in Beni in the Democratic Republic of Congo since he had tested negative when he left Uganda.
Dr Nsabiyunva says that samples were taken from him and taken to the laboratory at Mutukula and results came out positive. He said that the laboratory at Mutukula has helped Kisoro District as in 24 hours the samples were taken and results came out.
Dr. Nsabiyunva added that three of the people who had been moving with as well the boy who was washing his truck have been taken in quarantine at Kisoro hospital as they monitor them.
This is the second Covid-19 patient that Kabale regional referral Hospital has admitted. Daudi Ali, a Kenyan driver was discharged after being treated for close to three weeks.
