Uganda Boxing Federation Extends Covid19 Relief Food to Bombers

The Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF) on Tuesday afternoon donated relief food to the National team boxers and coaches.

Uganda Boxing Federation General Secretary Simon Barigo handed over the food donation to the National team manager Zebra Mando Sennyange and captain Shadir Musa Bwogi who represented the coaches and players.

The relief targets 26 boxers, 12 coaches, 2 team doctors, the team manager, and other support staff on the Bombers team that will soon resume preparations for the second phase of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic qualifiers in France.

The food items donated include Posho, Rice, Sugar and beans.

Speaking during the handover held at the federation offices in Lugogo, Barigo outlined the need to keep the Bombers in good shape prior to the Olympic qualifiers and ease their life during the lockdown as the main reason behind the initiative.

“The Federation has today decided to support the Bombers team with an assortment of foodstuffs which includes; posho, rice, sugar and beans that can see them through this Lockdown. This will help to keep the National team players in good shape ahead of the Olympic qualifier Games in France,” the General Secretary said.

This was the second phase of the donation going out to the bombers team after an earlier donation of health and medical equipment including soap, masks and gloves to help the boxers remain in this turbulent period.

The Bombers captain Shadir Musa was thankful to the Federation president Moses Muhangi for the support during this lockdown.

“I thank the Uganda Boxing Federation for donating food to boxers and other needy in this critical moment. I really appreciate the support from the president, Moses Muhangi, the team manager Zebra Ssenyange and the general secretary Simon Barigo,” he said.

UBF becomes the third Federation to aid players during the countrylockdown after FUFA and the Uganda Cricket Association.
