Tan Group Donates Protective Gear to Health Workers Fighting COVID19

It has been reported that health workers in rural areas have been running away from persons suspected to have COVID 19 over lack of protective gear.
On Saturday, Tan Group of Companies made a significant contribution in the fight against COVID 19 to protect and empower frontline health workers and provided equipment worth 25 million shillings.
According to the statement issued by Gesa Abdu, the General Manager Tan Group of Companies, the equipment included medical protective gears such as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) suits, masks, gloves, head covers, foot covers and eyeglasses for the medical staff at the forefront.
Others included hand sanitizers, hand washing tanks and wishing soap.

The equipment was handed over to the respective Task Force in all major towns in Eastern Uganda that included Mbale, Sironko, Kapchorwa, Manafwa, Bududa, Kumi, Pallisa, Budaka, Butaleja, Tororo, Busia, Soroti and Bugiri.
Gesa pledged further support to the Government and people of Uganda in the fight against COVID 19 pandemic.
“The Tanna family and Tan Group of Companies together with a committed workforce and reputed business partners, do pledge to Government and people of Uganda our total support to fight this crisis on a united public collaborated platform as we strive to reach out to sections that are underprivileged and deprived,” said Gesa in a statement.

The total number of Coronavirus infections in Uganda remain at 48 after all 398 samples tested negative at the Uganda Virus Research Institute on Saturday.   

“Todate, a cumulative of 2,629 samples have been tested for COVID19. The total number of COVID-19 confirmed cases in the country still stands at 48,” said Dr Henry Mwebesa, Director General Health Services.

He said a total of 980 cases are under follow up in institutional quarantine while 915 contacts to the confirmed cases are under follow up.

Uganda has not registered any Coronavirus-related death.
