Justice Abodo Takes Over as DPP

Hon. Lady Judge Jane Frances Abodo on Wednesday assumed office as the new Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) replacing Justice Mike Chibita who was recently elevated to Justice of the Supreme Court

Principal State Attorney Jacqueline Okui, the Ag spokesperson of the Office of the DPP said yesterday that this take over had been long awaited.

“We are therefore pleased with the appointment, more so since she is the first female DPP and one of our own, having served in the ODPP for over 20 years,” Okui said.

President Museveni in 2018 appointed Justice Abodo as a High Court judge and last month he appointed her as the new DPP

The Hon. Lady Judge Jane Frances Abodo joined the ODPP as a pupil State Attorney and rose to the rank of Senior Assistant DPP.

She headed the Anti-Corruption Department for 8 years and successfully handled very high profile corruption related cases including the pension case of 88 billion Uganda Shillings, against Jimmy Lwamafa and others.

In 2015, she was recognized by the Uganda Law Society as the best female prosecutor of the year. She left an exceptional record when she crossed over to the Judiciary in March 2018.
