Uganda Federal Alliance ‘Orphans’ Hold Crisis Meeting

The Uganda Federal Alliance party top leadership is this morning convening for a crisis meeting following the departure of their president Beti Kamya to the National Resistance Movement.

Kamya, whose party UFA has no representation in Parliament and indeed not about to make political headways in the terrains dominated by Museveni, Besigye and the emerging People Power of Bobi Wine, decided to join the ruling party.

The news of Kamya, now minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, joining NRM from Rubaga Division on Tuesday did not surprise many Ugandans as she had no more political expeditions to make but to preserve her ministerial appointment.

The development however left UFA, the party Kamya founded on July 19 2010, in a political limbo without a figurehead.

The party Chairman Peter Mayeku, Vice President Boniface Oniba Ekanya, Secretary General Oluma Kennedy and regional coordinators are now sitting to chart the way forward.

Mr. Oluma yesterday confirmed to ChimpReports on phone their plans to meet on Tuesday.

“We have arranged a meeting in Kampala tomorrow to come up with way forward,” said Oluma.

According to sources in the party, Kamya is yet to quit or surrender the party card and leadership of UFA.

“Hon. Beti has not handed over and we need her to officially do it,” said a source.
