Mbarara University Battles Back to Draw Against Kabale

Mbarara University 2-2 Kabale University 

Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) recovered from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Kabale University in a University Football League game played on a hot Sunday afternoon.

Twijukye Bright and Arinitwe Boaz fired Kabale in the driving seat, moments after the kick off before Atwine Ambrose and Agaba Lino restored parity for the hosts in Mbarara.

With just nine minutes into the match, Twijukye Bright put Kabale University in the lead from a spectacular shot that beat goalkeeper, Dennis Ndyebaza for the opener.

Four minutes later, Arinitwe Boaz beat the offside trap and made a good run before looping the ball over the keeper for Kabale University’s second goal.

On the 21st minute mark, Mbarara regained some hope when Atwine Ambrose scored a sensational strike from the edge of the box. His stunner hit the cross bar before crossing the line to cut the goal deficit.

Before the break, Agaba tried to find Mbarara’s equaliser with a teasing attempt on target but goalkeeper Andrew Nkurunungi quickly reacted to make a good clearance under pressure. The persistent Mbarara man later made a timely turn in box but his efforts went wide.

Again Agaba Lino rose to the occasion to force a fingertip save from Nkurunungi. The hosts’ talisman had space in the box to pick his spot but the Kabale’s custodian was equal to the challenge.

74 minutes into the game, Mbarara City who were continuously pausing questions finally got the equaliser when Agaba Lino stroke past Nkurunungi.

The result takes Kabale University back on top of group A with seven points, one ahead of Kyambogo University in second.

Mbarara University of Science and Technology remains 3rd placed on four points as University of Kisubi stays bottom with no point.
