Coronavirus: UBF President Muhangi Gives Back to Boxing Community
As the entire world is fighting the escalation of COVID 19 pandemic, different measures are being taken to halt the spread.
In a committed campaign, philanthropic Uganda Boxing Federation president Moses Muhangi on Friday handed over 37 cartons of branded white star magic bar soap and masks to the boxing fraternity.
Among the beneficiaries were the Federation staff and the National Boxing team players “Bombers”.
The ‘Gong master’ and AIBA/ITO certified administrator gave back to a team 24 boxers, 10 coaches, a medical personnel and the National team’s manager, each receiving a carton.
This is a huge boost as the country is grappling with the deadly disease and has since gone under a ‘partial lock-down’.
“The Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic is real and kills so many people around the world on a daily basis. We are here to emphasize the president’s directives against this global outbreak and encourage everyone to follow the guidelines if we are to stay safe,” Muhangi Said.
He added, “We are still going on with our preparations for the Olympics and we closely follow boxers’ individual training sessions on a daily basis to ensure that they keep in shape all the time.”
Bombers captain Shadir Musa Bwogi Kimera is the only boxer who automatically qualified for the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan that were rescheduled for next year.
Boxing, like many other sports discipline has been severely hit by the pandemic leading to the postponement of different events.
